Typically when one is told to mind their business, the connotation is to stop minding the business of the person making the recommendation. For me, there is another angle: allopatric speciation (of sorts). The dumbbell model (kinda, but not really). Isolated evolution. This is an evolution that happens when two populations of the same species become isolated from each other due to geographic changes. In 2016 Croatian scientists discovered 30 new species of animal in subterranean caves. You know what they were doing when they were found? 👏🏾mind👏🏾 ing 👏🏾their👏🏾 own👏🏾 biz👏🏾ness.

So what's this then? Occupe-toi de tes oignons is an album about my business and how I've minded it. C*V*D. Paying (handsomely) attention to my body as it continues to yell into the void. Turns out the virus is deaf, but I’m def. 😤. Observing my individual specimen evolve in an overhead cave. Seeing what I could conjure. Origin of a novel species. I’ve been going through it. Pain so thicc I could chew it. Taking a terrible time and submitting it to an alchemical process. Somatic Experiencing (at least entertaining the concept). Skin hunger. Touch starvation.

Being lonelier than I ever have been. ( i don't wanna brag, but I set a new personal record. *pats self on back and injures rotator cuff in the process*). Trying to transliterate shapes and feelings into music and back into shapes and feelings. Succeeding and failing over and over again. Can you relate? Perhaps, but that’s not my business.
